The Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable environment for its residents. In a statement, Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, disclosed that the LCDA’s Environmental Service Department, led by Sanitarian Babawunmi Olanike, is working in collaboration with the Council Environmental Taskforce to maintain a standard and sustainable environment.
The LCDA has intensified efforts to sensitize residents on the importance of proper waste disposal and environmental decency, with a view to achieving a cleaner and healthier environment. Residents have also been informed about the Lagos State Recycling Projects, an initiative that has successfully turned waste to wealth at the grassroots level. Accredited agency stations have been established where residents can convert waste products such as disposable plastics, cans, and other recyclable materials into wealth.
Hon. Odunayo has urged residents to take advantage of this opportunity, saying, “Let’s turn waste to wealth, let’s make our environment clean and beautiful.” The LCDA is calling on residents to support its environmental initiatives by adhering to waste management regulations and reporting environmental offenders to the authorities.
The LCDA will continue to prioritize environmental sustainability and encourage community participation in maintaining a clean and beautiful environment.
